Silencing trains as they roll through Eastview is the aim of one Regina city councillor

When Dan Leblanc stated door-knocking in the civic election campaign to become the councillor for Ward 6, he had no idea about a problem in the Eastview subdivision that got brought up to him time after time.

“People were asking me what I could do to get the trains that roll through at night silenced because it is something that keeps them awake at night and their kids at night.” Leblanc said. “I had no idea this was an issue.”

With that being the case, Leblanc wants to do something about it now that he is serving residents of the area, so he is organizing an online forum set for January 25 that he wants residents of Eastview to be a part of.   He plans on taking a motion to council, but he wants to make sure that motion is properly worded so input is needed.

“There’s a fair amount of work involved so I want to make sure I get it right and address all the concerns that I can.” Leblanc said. “I want to hear from the community first to get their take on problems and solutions.  It is more than just the noise as well.  It is people trying to beat the train, kids playing near the tracks, things like that.”

Leblanc says this will be no quick fix so he wants to get working on this file now.

“I have almost four years left, but I want to get the ball rolling on this.  I don’t want to wait until the last year to get going on things I promised so I want to start now.”

Those wanting to register can also do so by contacting Leblanc directly at 306-552-6932.
