Saskatoon man facing attempted murder charge in Regina

A Saskatoon man made an appearance in a Regina courtroom Monday morning charged with attempted murder and firearms charges after an incident on the weekend at a warming shelter.

Police were called to the shelter on the 3500 block of 5th Avenue in north central just before 8:30 Friday morning. A caller told police a man was there trying to fight with staff. When police arrived, the suspect had left, but an investigation revealed he had pointed a homemade gun at another person before firing it. That shot struck the window of a building. That investigation also showed the suspect had a number of firearm prohibition orders against him.

35-year-old Dexter Lee was arrested without incident on Sunday at the warming shelter.
