Regina man arrested after recovered stolen vehicle leads to weapons charges

A 21-year-old Regina man is facing weapons charges after police recovered a stolen vehicle on Tuesday morning in Regina.

In a release from the Regina Police Service, members noticed a stolen vehicle at around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the area of 4th Avenue and Atkinson Street. Police saw the vehicle driving erratically and at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was later found parked on the 900 block of McTavish Street where police located a man walking in the area who matched the description of the driver from earlier. He ran away when police approached him, but was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Upon searching the vehicle, police found a loaded gun, bladed weapons and personal identification documents that did not belong to the suspect.

Regina Police have handed 21-year-old Mackenzie Desnomie 13 charges including two counts of possession of a weapon and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon. He appeared in court for his charges on Wednesday morning.
