SaskPower alerting customers of fraudulent texts, emails

SaskPower is warning customers of a series of fraudulent text messages and emails that have been sent to residents in recent days.

The Crown corporation says these messages claim funds must be sent due to overbilling and possibly contain links leading to websites requesting financial or personal information. The company warns that giving scammers this information may lead to theft of money or identity.

SaskPower is reminding customers they will never conduct financial transactions through text messages, email or social media.

Residents are asked to contact SaskPower customer service to learn more about the state of their account if they are in doubt. Fraud victims are asked to call their banking institution and law enforcement immediately.
