Santa Maria Citizens’ Home dealing with second COVID-19 outbreak of the pandemic

A new outbreak of COVID-19 is spreading rapidly at a Regina long-term care home.

Santa Maria Citizens’ Home in south Regina is reporting 20 cases in the facility after an outbreak was declared on December 18th.

The home is working with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, who at this time say no significant issues are being raised with their handling of the outbreak.

Santa Maria Citizens’ Home has 147 residents and offers level 3 and 4 care, which is for seniors with highest needs.

This is the second COVID-19 outbreak declared at the home after one was also declared in mid-November.
