YWCA opening up “warm-up station” in Regina

Those needing shelter on a cold night have another place to go.

All Nations Hope Network and YWCA Regina are opening the doors to a “warm up station” that will provide an option for shelter to those who might otherwise be spending their days and nights battling extreme outdoor conditions during Saskatchewan winter nights that can be frigid.

“It’s our vision to provide a place where those battling homelessness or in unsafe housing situations have
a place to get out of the cold, get something warm to drink, and stay safe,” said Melissa Coomber-Bendtsen, CEO YWCA Regina. “This year, options are limited, so we are creating new ones.”

The station, located at #3510 – 5th Ave, will provide warm drinks, clothing, and will be staffed by All Nations
Hope Network. YWCA Regina’s Outreach teams will also be on site to provide diversion services to those
who could benefit from additional support.

Hours of operation beginning on December 26 are 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. and starting  January 4 doors
will be open and services available 24 hours a day.

The station will be accepting donations of funding, warm clothing or supplies. For information on how to
make a donation visit www.allnationshope.ca or www.ywcaregina.com.
