RCMP say a 39-year-old woman is dead after a car and SUV collided with one another on Highway 55 Wednesday.

The accident happened five kilometers north of Canwood around 4:45 p.m

RCMP say the 39-year-old was driving the car with two occupants, a 17-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl suffering injuries.  While the injuries to the teenager are described as minor, the injuries suffered by the nine-year-old are described as serious, but not life threatening.

The 78-year old driver of the SUV along with two women who were passengers, aged 56 and 76, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol and drugs are not considered a factor.
