After a warm weekend with above zero temperatures, southern Saskatchewan is going to see an abrupt return to winter like weather on Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued Snowfall Warnings for much of southern Saskatchewan, including Regina, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Kindersley, Weyburn and Estevan.

Snow is in the forecast for many communities beginning late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, and lasting until late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Totals are expected to be in the 20 cm range, with the heaviest amounts centered around the Trans-Canada.

Closer to the U.S. border, milder temperatures may create freezing rain in places as well.

Strong winds are also expected to create reduced visibility on roads in some areas.
