Impaired driving charges issued against SK man in connection with fatal accident in AB

A 45-year-old Caronport man faces impaired driving charges after a September accident in Alberta that killed two teenagers and seriously injured a third.

Christopher Rempel is charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and causing death in the deaths of the teens.

Rempel has also been charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP say Rempel was impaired when the truck he was driving collided head-on with an SUV on the evening of September 17 taking the lives of a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl.

A 15-year-old girl remains in hospital with what are called “life-altering” injuries.

Rempel is to appear in a Fort Saskatchewan courtroom December 10.
