Woman killed in south Regina Wednesday morning hit by City of Regina vehicle

More information on a fatal collision that occurred in Regina Wednesday morning has come from Regina Police.

They say a 21-year-old woman was killed when she was hit by a City of Regina excavator that was heading south as she was trying to cross from the west side to the east side on the 4500 block of Albert Street around 7:45 a.m.

Police say the driver of the excavator was not aware of what had happened and carried on for some distance before being located.

In a statement, city manager Chris Holden says the city sends its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones impacted by this tragedy and that no words can describe how difficult this situation will be for all those impacted.

The name of the woman will not be released.

Regina Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the accident and has not already been interviewed by police to call them.
