Regina Mayoral debate goes Monday night on AccessNOW TV

Monday night is the one chance mayoral candidates in Regina’s civic election have to debate the issues ahead of next week’s vote.

Seven of the nine candidates will take part in the two hour debate, moderated by Regina and District Chamber of Commerce CEO John Hopkins.

Hopkins says he will focus on topics Regina residents care about most.

“Things like taxation levels, economic growth, infrastructure. Those types of things will sort of be the topics we’ll talk about,” explained Hopkins.

He mentioned how the pandemic will be brought up throughout the debate, too.

Hopkins also discussed how this debate will find a way to give each participating candidate equal time during the two-hour program.

“We thought it was really important to get them all together so that everyone was given equal opportunity to present their views and perspectives,” said Hopkins. “It will be a long night because it will be two hours. But everyone will be treated equally.”

The debate runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and can be watched on AccessNOW TV cable as well as online. Viewers can tune in to the live debate by visiting AccessNOW TV’s Decision 2020 webpage.
