Regina police investigating bomb threat at Cornwall Centre

Regina Police Service members are at the 2100 block of 11th Avenue in downtown Regina investigating a potential bomb threat.

RPS received a call at 3:57 p.m. on Wednesday from a man alleging he was inside the Cornwall Centre and was in possession of an explosive device. Officers were sent to the scene soon after to determine the validity of the threat.

The building has been cordoned off by security and police are working with security and management of the property to determine the appropriate next steps.

To add to the activity in the downtown area, police say a two-vehicle collision unrelated to the possible bomb threat happened at 4:26 p.m. at Saskatchewan Drive and Hamilton Street. These two events are in close proximity and have caused some traffic issues for motorists in the area.

Regina police say there does not appear to be any injuries from the accident. It is still under investigation.

Police are advising the public to avoid these areas if possible and choose a different route at this time.
