Man arrested after approaching students with knife in Vibank

RCMP say a man is now in custody after he approached students at Vibank School with a weapon.

Indian Head RCMP say they were called at about 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday after an unknown man approached students in the school yard with a knife. The school was secured soon after as students were brought inside the building and the doors were locked.

In a release sent out on Tuesday afternoon, Indian Head RCMP, White Butte RCMP and the Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Service searched the school premises to ensure the safety of staff and students.

Police located the suspect within an hour at his residence and he was brought into custody.

The hold and secure on the school has since been lifted.
